Seeking Capital from Mentor Capital
There are two primary avenues for Funds and Companies to receive investment from Mentor Capital:
Fund-of-Funds: Mentor Capital is structured as a zero-fee Fund-of-Funds. Hedge funds that would like to receive investment funds from Mentor Capital, should contact the Company. A select group of hedge funds in various categories may receive significant funding over time. There will be direct investment from Mentor Capital with some percentage management and performance fee sharing. Also, funds, institutions and accredited investors that invest in future specific offerings, if such are approved, will have an opportunity to exit by
- Selling stock in the normal fashion,
- Substituting in for Mentor Capital in any investment that Mentor Capital has a position in, or
- Eventually being bought out at a profit.
Via the second option, participating funds receiving financing may receive additional investors. Mentor Capital will retain a carry in fees for an agreed upon period.
(Note: Failed Hedge Fund Liquidation: In the unfortunate case of having to close a fund, Mentor Capital will complete that work for the managing partner for no charge. This includes the final communication with investors.)
Owners' Fund: Mentor Capital's internal fund is referred to as the Owners' Fund. It involves minority or non-control positions in private companies. The Owners' Fund is a way for smaller companies that do not want to or are not ready to go public to get access to the high public company multiples available to larger companies. The application process is simplified, funds are non-recourse, assets are not tied up, and owners continue as owners. The result is a large amount of slow capital flowing to owners to diversify or give liquidity to their life's work. Valuation is determined by the owners with corresponding payment to owners based on actual performance. Capital outflows from the businesses are controlled by the owners. Mentor Capital receives dividends from its portion of the business, only when the owner decides he wishes to withdraw cash proportionally for himself. Owners of mature, already profitable businesses, should feel free to contact the CEO at any time.
